THOMAS P. BOWLES JR. CHAIR OF ACTUARIAL SCIENCE AND SYMPOSIA SERIES

The Bowles Symposia Series—established in 1995 as a special program of the Georgia State University's Department of Risk Management and Insurance— represent a collection of actuarial research and education seminars that focus on specific issues relevant to the changing and complex environment in which contemporary actuaries practice. Recent symposia have been co-sponsored by the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), the Society of Actuaries (SoA), the Actuarial Foundation, and the Professional Risk Managers' International Association.

1999 Symposium: Financial Services Integration: Fortune or Fiasco? (led by Harold D. Skipper Jr., Chairman of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance and C.V. Starr Chair of International Insurance at Georgia State University)

2001 Symposium: The Coming Revolution in Insurance Accounting (led by Sam Gutterman, FSA, FCAS, Bowles Distinguished Lecturer and Director and Consulting Actuary for the PricewaterhouseCoopers Actuarial and Insurance Management Solutions Group)

2003 Symposium: Fair Valuation of Contingent Claims and Benchmark Cost of Capital (led by Shaun Wang, Ph.D., FCAS, ASA, MAAA)
