Conrad S. Ciccotello is an Associate Professor of Risk Management and Insurance in the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.  Dr. Ciccotello is also the Director of Personal Financial Planning (PFP) Programs.  Dr. Ciccotello has earned both the JD and Ph.D.  A graduate of Suffolk Law School and a member of both the Pennsylvania and Supreme Court Bars, Dr. Ciccotello earned his Ph.D. in Finance in 1993 from the Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Ciccotello’s primary research interests are in law and finance, with emphasis on financial intermediation, organization, and contracting.  His 40 publications include articles in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Corporation Law, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and Financial Analysts Journal.  Dr. Ciccotello’s research on the financial planning profession is cited in the Federal Register. His paper on market timing of mutual funds is entered into the Congressional Record as Senate Banking Committee testimony.

Dr. Ciccotello’s currently serves as a Fellow in the TIAA-CREF Institute.  From 2001-2007, he was Editor of Financial Services Review, an academic journal dedicated to individual financial management issues.  Well known in the Atlanta area for appearances on WXIA business news, Dr. Ciccotello has also provided expert testimony to the Retirement Committee of the Georgia Senate and served as an investment consultant to the University System of Georgia for the redesign of its defined contribution plan.  He has commented on National Public Radio and been quoted in newspapers and financial publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today, CNNMoney, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Consumer Reports, Investment Advisor, Smart Money, Financial Planning, and Mutual Funds. 

Consistently ranked among the top instructors by students in the Robinson College, Dr. Ciccotello received a faculty teaching award in 2006.  As Director of PFP Programs since 1999, Dr. Ciccotello has built close relationships with a number of leaders in the personal financial planning and wealth management industries.  That interface has helped PFP program graduates to obtain placements in top financial planning firms.
